Tablet Weaving with Belinda RoseWorkshop
22 November 10:00 - 12:00
Tablet weaving is a fascinating form of weaving. It can be used to create highly intricate patterned narrow bands and was used in Viking times to create closures for garments.
Using the small loom provided, students will weave a two coloured band about a centimeter wide and a metre long, suitable for a delicate neckpiece or wristlet.
Once the technique has been learned it can be used to make jewellery, bookmarks, camera or guitar straps or sewn together to make pouches or other items.
Learning to tablet weave is a great way to understand the weaving process and can easily be done at home using simple inexpensive equipment.
£60 including materials, and use of equipment.
This workshop takes place at the Colourbothy, East Steading, Hirn, Banchory, Aberdeenshire. AB31 5QT.
